About

The Shimshaws are brothers Todd McCombs (vocals, keys, guitars) and Scott McCombs (vocals, guitars, bass, MIDI programming). They have been singing, playing, writing and recording together for 25+ years and have spent time playing in bands together and apart. Todd and Scott wrote all of the songs on Oh My Stars, their fourth studio album. In the age of iTunes and short attention spans, The Shimshaws still believe in the “album” format — and since they are not beholden to a major label, they write and record until they are satisfied with the end product — they think you will be too.

The Shimshaws have released three previous CD’s — Everything Always in 2014, Ear To The Wire in 2008 and Subcutaneous in 2004. Like their previous CD’s, Oh My Stars features guitar and piano driven, melodic pop/rock songs that reflect a range of influences including the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, Pete Townsend, James Taylor, REM, Replacements, Steve Earle, Tom Petty, Nirvana, Weezer, Matthew Sweet, Uncle Tupelo, Radiohead (the Bends!), Teenage Fanclub, Foo Fighters, Snow Patrol and many more. A special thanks to Jody Rodney who sang harmony on Ordinary Girl and Trisha McCombs who created the cover art!

The songs were recorded and mixed at TMK Studios in Highlands Ranch, CO and mastered by Randy LeRoy at Tonal Park in Takoma Park, MD. Please give it a listen and remember to turn it up!
